NACP 3.2.3 – To ensure appointment of rescuing contractors through open tender

04 April 2019 

One hundred and forty-seven G1 contractors, previously known as Class F, have objected to plans to appoint three G7 companies, formerly Class A contractors, to carry out maintenance and repair works of government quarters in Putrajaya. Putrajaya G1 United Alliance deputy chairman Mohd Najib Mohd Ghazali said the appointment could lead to a monopoly by bigger companies, thus, leaving very little space for smaller contractors.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged the government to continue assisting farmers, fishermen and smallholders who require government incentives. He reminded the government that the average group of those seeking help were poor but the budget tabled by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng recently cut and minimised allocation for them.

The Ministry of Works expected to implement a fully digitalised procurement system named E-Works in 2020, said its minister Baru Bian. He said the system was still under the development phase and it would take two years to complete before it could fully be used in all ministries.
